Application modernisation

Application modernisation aims at maximising the benefits of application assets that already exist within your organisation. Indeed, the value of legacy applications can further be unleashed by opening them up towards modern technologies (e.g. web front-ends), integrating them with other applications, and rationalising their embedded functionality and data (e.g. suppressing redundancies). This line of solution exploits GFI’s in-depth knowledge of both legacy technology (e.g. mainframe) and modern technologies. It also exploits the power of Service-Oriented Architectures.

These are typical examples of application modernisation solutions that GFI deploys for its clients:

  • Cartography of existing IT systems
Establishing a cartography (model) of your IT systems, their functionality, deployment and inter-dependencies
  • Re-engineering of legacy applications with SOA
Progressive transformation of existing applications into compositions of reusable service components
  • Data transformations
Flexible transformations of voluminous or complex data such as XML and domain-specific EDI
  • Mainframe integration
Opening-up existing mainframe functionality so that it can be exploited by modern technologies such as J2EE, Lotus or NET
  • Governance of SOA initiatives
Setting-up service life-cycles and decision processes that help you keeping in control of your SOA initiatives and guaranteeing their Return On Investment
  • Technology migrations
Moving an application from one technology to another one
